Anatomy Scan & Appointment Update
Hi Ladies--
Thanks for your reponses yesterday to my Anatomy Scan post. In fact, I was so excited for this morning's appointment that when I woke up to pee at 2:46, I didn't go back to sleep until almost 4:00! I was seriously toying with the idea of just staying up. Thankfully, I didn't and was able to fall back to sleep.
All my vitals are good and my weight gain stays at 10 lbs. (yay!) I've been very diligent about my intake....the N.P. I met with (who was absolutely the most personable medical professional I've ever interacted with) was saying very good things about how 10 lbs. is far below the normal weight gain for this point in pregnancy. All involved know that since I started out at 215 (at 5'5"), I don't need to gain a dramatic amount of weight to have a healthy baby.
All the measurement during the scan were on par...baby is 8 oz. and my placenta is anterior (in the front), hence one the reasons I have yet to feel fetal movement. It may take until 24 weeks the nurse said. At least I know, which puts my mind at ease. The ultrasound technician was very patient and of course, checked for the gender last. (Although, I'm pretty sure I saw the boy parts right out of the gate!) The tech was searching and searching and then said "The hands are there...(in the crotch area)...it must be a boy!" Sure enough, after a few minutes the hands moved and there were bonafide boy parts to be seen! It was great that my husband and I were able to be together for this appointment. He was being silly in the waiting room and threatening to go in to the appointment by himself. He's such a dork!
I'm so thrilled to know the gender. Again, I had NO preference, but have had a very strong hunch/suspicion/idea that I was carrying a boy from very early on. My in-laws are over the moon, as my husband is their only son (and my FIL is an only son)....the family name depends on us! Of their 7 grandchildren, the first 3 were girls and the last 4 boys....so my in-laws literally said "We assume it'll be a girl unless we hear otherwise." I phoned my FIL at work and said "I'm carrying your grandson." He response: Oh my, I didn't think it would go that way!
Now, I'm simply trying to take in all the information and enjoy it. I have spent far too much time over-analyzing and being critical of myself during this pregnancy...so I'm decided to really "just be" in hopes of enjoying things more.
Thanks for letting me share,

Highest Weight = 412lbs, Surgery Weight = 359lbs, Current Weight = 155lbs (5'7" tall)http://www.picturetrail.com/gid8138761
It is beyond my husband's capabilities...not to mention he doesn't have the time to dedicate to it. So, we have a contractor* coming to give us an estimate. I really hope to have a usable tub soon!

Ah- Paula...wonderful news. I am glad that everything is measuring exactly on target. I had a feeling it was a boy- why I don't know. Silly DH can make the time waiting fly. I have asked mine a few times if he would allow them to poke and prode him verse me..somehow we don't think it would work. I am hopin I have not gained anything...cause I don't really need more weight- I feel this weight and below even would sustain a wonderful pregnancy...now if only I could tell my body I don't need those things my cravings tell me to eat.
Enjoy and bask in the glory of pregnancy and knowing you'll be having a little man in your household.
